Rita Ihekwaba

Rita Ihekwaba (born Margaret Aghadiuno, on August 27, 1966) is an acclaimed and prolific Nigerian writer of fiction, non-fiction, poetry and drama.
Born in Lagos, Rita developed a love of reading and writing at the age of 9, in an elementary boarding school, when she was put in charge of the school library. She wrote her first novel, The Second Bite, at the age of 17 and has since then nurtured her dream to become a prolific writer. She has lived and studied in different parts of the world, including Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. She possesses graduate degrees and certificates in Languages, translation and Communications from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, the University of Port Harcourt, and New York University. She speaks several languages and has extensive experience as an editor of fiction and non-fiction. She is a member of ASCAP USA.
Rita writes different genres of books. Her Christian book, Walking in the Spirit,a Christian's companion,was published in 2006 (see 1). According to the Association of African Book Reviewers, KWENU (see2), Rita's writes in a style of simple elegance and depth. Rita lives with her college-sweetheart husband, Okezie Ihekwaba, and their children in New York, USA.
