Redactable is a Software company based in New York City that provides a web-based platform for document redaction.

History

Redactable was founded in 2018 by Amanda Levay. The company provides automated redaction software for identifying and removing sensitive information from documents, including scanned PDFs.

In July 2022, Redactable launched its AI-driven redaction application following a pre-seed funding round of US$900,000. That same year, Redactable was selected as one of ten startups for the 2022 FIS Fintech Accelerator, a program presented by FIS Impact Ventures and The Venture Center.

In December 2023, the company completed a US$5.5 million seed funding round led by Gradient Ventures - Google’s AI focused fund, with participation from Wocstar Fund, AngelList and other investors.

In October 2023, Redactable was awarded a Direct to Phase II SBIR contract from United States Air Force, valued at US$1.25 million, to protect sensitive documents. The contract was later increased by US$1.9 million under a Tactical Funding Increase in October 2024, taking the total Air Force contracts awarded to Redactable to over $3.3 million.

In 2023, Redactable was granted U.S. patents related to cloud-based document processing, including methods and systems for integrated optical character recognition (OCR) and redaction.

In February 2025, the company announced that it had completed Type 2 SOC 2 and HIPAA audits.
