Red Box Design Group are a design company which focuses on architecture and building interiors based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

History

The business was founded by Alan Smith OBE in 1985 as Alan J Smith Partners becoming Red Box in 2000.

Operations

The company is split into four parts, Architecture, Interiors, Gallery and FUSEBOXDESIGN Ltd.

Architecture

The Architecture part of the group has designed buildings for a large number of local, national and international companies and organizations. Examples of their local work include all of the buildings currently used by the Northern Rock bank at their headquarters in Gosforth.

The firm has also been contracted by a number of educational institutions, such as Gateshead College.

The firm has also been contracted by industrial companies such as Nissan Motors.

The firm has also worked on the designs of a number of sports-related facilities including the Sunderland Aquatic Centre.

Interiors

The Interiors part of the group has provided national roll-out plans for selections of the branches of Northern Rock, Abbey National in 1994, Learn Direct, Sainsbury's, Toys R Us and Specsavers in the Netherlands.

Red Box have a Gallery which they started at their offices at the Old Post Office, St Nicholas Chare, Newcastle upon Tyne in 2003. The first piece of art to shown at the Gallery was Fenwick Lawson's Cuthbert's Journey.

FUSEBOXDESIGN

FUSEBOXDESIGN Ltd is the new media sister company of the group, mainly focusing on the creation of websites, founded in 2001.
