Raymond Bloomfield (b. October 30, 1956 in London) is a British business executive and entrepreneur with activities in real estate investment and development in the UK, Western and Eastern Europe including Russia/CIS. His other activities extend to technology, private equity and fund management.

History

Bloomfield achieved early success in 1976 when he created Rayfield Estates 1, which quickly became a very successful real estate agency specializing in luxury residential properties in London, before moving into residential development. Thereafter he moved on to commercial development and investment.

Bloomfield is widely credited with being the first person to originate the idea of bringing a number of major German real estate investors into the UK commercial real estate market. Bloomfield noticed that the UK, following a major downturn in the STOCK market, coupled with fast ever-rising sterling interest rates, plus the collapse of a number of major UK public listed real estate companies, might offer major opportunities to acquire distressed real estate assets. Having identified this hitherto virtually unnoticed opportunity, Bloomfield went on to acquire AbOUT $1 billion of assets on behalf of his private HNWI. Bloomfield also advised several German banks in developing their UK commercial lending operations, which were inactive prior to that time.

From 1994, Bloomfield originated And Co-developed a number of prominent development projects in Central London, primarily in Mayfair, Prime City and Covent Garden. The projects varied in size from $20M - $200M.

Following a meeting with senior members of Moscow's city government in 1993, Bloomfield again correctly identified the enormous potential of what was to become one of the world's largest economic markets—Russia. Having been one of the earliest pioneers from the West in Russian real estate, he correctly identified a number of striking opportunities that he worked upon, including luxury hotels, gas stations and office buildings.

Bloomfield has been involved in numerous business ventures from 1993 to date in Russia/CIS and Kazakhstan. These are mainly in real estate, but his other business activities include telecoms, technology and fund management. He is extremely well-connected and maintains a low profile.

Bloomfield's activities are now carried out under the name of Rayfield Group which is based at 76 Brook Street, Mayfair, London W1K 5EE.
