Biography

RAGE was originally conceptualized in 1986 as an underground rock band. A few memorable concerts were performed during that era. The band then dismantled as two members left for higher studies. Haseeb Gora (bassist of the RAGE) joined a commercial band. He was unsatisfied with that band as it was commercial oriented and had no ambition.

The desperation and the ambition to develop and experimen t music led to the formation of RAGE. He became the manager of the band and devoted his talent for the young comers. Originally the band consisted of two-lead singers (Salman Haider and Murad Hassan), drummer (Ali Raza), guitarist (Ahmer Kenneth), bassist (Christopher) and a keyboard player (Amir Abbas). The band started of in 1994 and shortly gave their hit single Chand Se Chehron. This song was played on a program VJ aired by a private channel. The second hit song was "Aikala" which was selected by Rimmel Khan for the Pepsi Top of the POPS album. That song remained on second position on the charts for two months.

RAGE was then given a task to compose a title song for the smash hit drama Aashiana. Kashif Mehmood a renowned TV artist knew that RAGE could provide with such a title song. That title song was also a smash hit. These events encouraged RAGE to make a debut album. The album was named Aashiana. The album did not get much attention due to poor marketing, but was highly acclaimed by critics in articles of newspapers and magazines.

As time passed the desperation to prove and achieve RAGE as a hit band grew. As the saying goes 'In every difficulty lies opportunity'. This opportunity came in the form of Rafi Peer group. The Rafi Peer group asked RAGE to compose a title song Mere Par Na Bandho for the Puppet festival. The song was a breakthrough. It was not only a hit in the home but across the border also. The band was invited to tour in India with the Rafi Peer group. The coverage of this event was done by BBC and ZEE network as well. This song was also selected for the SAF games album and RAGE played this song live at Liaqat Gymnasium on the inauguration ceremony of the SAF games 2003.

On the return from the tour RAGE went underground to produce their second album. Unfortunately, the band lost one of their lead singers (Murad) and drummer (Ali Raza) as both left for higher studies. RAGE had a set back due to this, but the four member band now got together even closer and aimed at completing their second album. Day and night efforts led to the release of Deewana the second album. A video was produced for the song Aashiana and released on different music channels. Lead singer Salman however, decided to experiment direction for the video of 'Chand se chehron pe' remix. This video was a hit and now is being broadcasted on different hit music channels. This encouraged Salman to direct the next two videos for the song Kho Gaya Mera Chand and Akhiyan

The success of the band was not only recognized in home but abroad also. Gladiator Records label in Britain approached RAGE for two of its hit songs Akhiyan and Aitebar and an instrumental by the versatile guitarist Ahmer. The album is available in Europe by the name of Love rocks. Gladiator records are also releasing the second album Deewana in Britain as well.
