Rabindra Hazari
Rabindra Hazari was an Indian economist born on October 21st, 1932. Rabindra's father was Avtar Hazari and his mother is Chandermohini Razdan. His paternal grandfather was Meghraj Hazari. He had two brothers named Opinder and Parduman. He died from a heart attack at the age of 54 on November 8th, 1986 in Mumbai. He served as the deputy governor of the RBI and was even offered the governor's spot if he agreed to sponsor the Maruti Udyog project started by Sanjay Gandhi. However, believing the project to be non profitable, he refused to support it. As a result the governorship was offered to another deputy governor, who was junior to him. The Hazari Report on Industrial Planning and Licensing Policy written by him is still taught to students of economics all over the country. In his distinguished career, he was also the editor of the Economic and Political Weekly.
