Annapoorni Murugan (), popularly known as Poorni is a VJ, Actress and Software Engineer from Tamil Nadu.

Early life and family

Poorni was born in Madurai to a Tamil Family from Dindigul on 9 April 1986. Her father is an Electrical Engineer in TNEB and her mother a housewife. She has a younger sister doing her engineering.

Education

Poorni was put in Telaru up to 1st standard and studied up to 5th standard in MVM, Dindigul. She later finished her 10th from St. Joseph's Girls Higher Seconadary Convent, Dindigul and her 12th from SRV, Rasipuram. She holds an engineering degree in Biotech from SASTRA,Tanjore in 2007.

Small screen career

Poorni started off hosting shows in Doordarshan and subsequently hosted shows in Vasanth TV, Mega TV,Captain TV, Raj Music and Sun Music. She also acted in a serial called Parasakthi on Vasanth TV and was featured on Ananda Vikatan and Kumgumam Magazines. She also did a few AD films for companies like Global Furniture and CMS Computer Solutions. She won Miss Chinnathirai 2010 in the Miss Photogenic category..

Currently She is hosting shows in Captain TV occasionally.

Acting career

Poorni debuted in the film Boss Engira Bhaskaran released in 2010 in a major supporting role alongside popular actors Arya and Santhanam. Her portrayal as a blind teacher was appreciated by critics.

Present job

Other than acting and hosting TV shows, Poorni is a Software Engineer by profession and worked for two years in TCS. She is currently a senior software engineer in Accenture and works in Chennai, India.
