Pipeline to a cure

Pipeline to a cure is an annual event, held to raise money and awareness for sufferers of Cystic Fibrosis. It grew from the idea to spread awareness of a discovery made by Australian researchers, that children suffering from CF who surfed regularly had significantly better lung health. Its efforts are part of the Southern California Chapter of CFF (Cystic Fibrosis Foundation).

The annual galas have collectively raised $800,000 to date. In addition CFF and Pipeline to a cure supporters often organize regular surfing trips for children with CF.

So far there has only been 4, the last annual Gala having been held on August the 9th of 2011, at the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Huntington Beach, Anaheim CA.

Special guests included : Surfer Magazine's Editor - Sam George And wave champion Dave Kalama

With Performances by: Ifluential Musician and surfer Tom Cullen Ryan and Kai Kalama Young East Bay punk rockers Travis,Cole,Max and Joseph, otherwise known as the band Emily's Army. (Named after members Max and Cole Beckers cousin, dancer Emily Daskas who suffers from CF)

Green Day Singer Billie Joe Armstrong and wife Adrienne Nesser regularly support Emily's Army and Pipeline to a Cure.

Green Day bassist Mike Dirnt and his wife Britney were also cited as 'Good friends' by Brad, on Pipelineforacure's Twitter account.

Also notable is Billy Joe RT Armstrong, a member of the Armstrong family who also suffers from CF.
