Philip J. Riley

Philip J Riley (1948- ) Musician, Film Historian, author, editor. After 15 years as a professional musician where Philip J Riley played on 8 Grammy Award albums, in concerts with the Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Wonder and Jeff Beck and performed with the first guitar synthizer - He switched to journalism when he found out that many silent films were lost and that the American Screenwriter was falling through the cracks of American Literary History. With the support of his mentor Forrest J Ackerman he reconstructed the lost silent films London After Midnight (1927) A Blind Bargain (1922), The uncut The Phantom Of the Opera (1925) and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923. He wrote a series of Books to promote awareness of the great American art, that of Screenwriter. Working with the Writer's Guild he helped secure publishing writes for the screenwriters of today. As with all his books His Universal Series contained the shooting script but also included acknowledgements and articles for the photographers, designers, directors, musicians and other cast and crew members. Author Gregory Mank wrote the background for the Universal Frankenstein Films and George Turner ASC also contributed. His new series is an alternate history for Classic Movie Monsters which includes the scripts for legendary "What if" titles,i.e. Bela Lugosi starred in the sequel Dracula's Daughter, Boris Karloff starred in Cagliostro or The Invisible Man and Lon Chaney starred in Dracula in 1930s. He has two daughters from a previous marriage, Jessica Riley and Catlin Watson.
