Percussion Software
Percussion Software, Inc. is a web content management Software company headquartered in Woburn, Massachusetts. Percussion Software, Inc. was founded in 1994 in Woburn, Massachusetts.
History
Percussion Software, Inc. started with Notrix and Notrix Composer for EDA/SQL in 1994. Notrix PowerTool was released in 1996. The Notrix products are now managed by Axceler.
Rhythmyx / Percussion CM System
Percussion released Rhythmyx in 1999. Rhythmyx offered a solution to let developers quickly add database information to pages without custom programming or having to know database architecture and issues.
Rhythmyx was built on top of three parts:
- Server Administrator Utility used to remotely manage privileges for users and groups, resource usage, and the server logs
- Workbench Graphical interface that works with Web development tools to help users map pages to data sources
- Server Delivers data to users in HTML, XML, or MIME formats via Java Database Connectivity links with corporate databases
To use Rhythmyx to its fullest potential, users must know how to create Web applications. The Rhythmyx Core is the Server, a Java console application, operating as a Windows NT user process. The server parses the HTML, XML, and XSL files linked together in the Rhythmyx Workbench, and it serves data-enabled pages to Web browsers via a built-in HTTP server.
The Percussion Rhythmyx starting cost was $5,000 per processor.
Percussion dropped the Rhythmyx brand in The Release of v6.6 of the product in 2009. The decision to rename Rhythmyx was made in Q4 2008 because the company had limited messaging capital to spend on two brands - Percussion and Rhythmyx.
