Perak football team
Perak FA (PAFA) is the parent association of Perak, a popular football team in Malaysia, currently playing in the Malaysian Malaysian Super League. Perak was formed in 1921 to participate in the Malaya Cup (later HMS Cup, known today as the Malaysia Cup). It is one of the more consistent teams in Malaysian football and considers the 40,000-seat Perak Stadium as its homeground, although it has played some matches in Lumut whenever the Stadium was not available.
Perak finished third in the 2006 season of Malaysian Super League despite picking up the least number of points amongst all eight teams for the third round of the league.
They were knocked out of the 2006 Malaysia Cup competition at semi-final stage, losing to Perlis 2-1 after extra-time.
Administration
Elections to determine office holders for the Perak Fooball Association were last held in February 2006. Presidency was assumed by YB Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who is also Malaysia's Deputy Information Minister. Mohd Zaim Abu Hasan is the association's deputy president. Both the president and his deputy won uncontested, after the previous president and his deputy decided not to run for re-election.
There were contest for The Two vice-president posts, but the incumbents lost out to Datuk Muhd Muhiyuddin Abdullah and Khairuddin Ahmad.
Staff
Englishman Steve Darby is currently the team's manager and coach. Darby, who was previously attached to Singapore's Home United, replaced Jamal Nasir Rasdi as manager and Brazilian Antonio Netto as coach.
Isa Haji Ismail is currently employed as the team's assistant manager.
Other staff include assistant coach is Zakaria Mohamed, goalkeeping coach Abdul Talib Saidi and physiotherapist Zainuddin Zakaria.
