Peace Love World
Peace Love World is an American lifestyle company based in Miami, FL. Started in 2007, the brand produces apparel for women, men, and children, as well as accessories and gifts in the pet and home categories. Currently, Peace Love World offers goods through a company e-retail website and operates four company stores in Florida. Peace Love World is also available at independent retail shops throughout the United States and abroad.
Company History and Expansion
Peace Love World was launched by Alina Villasante, who carries the title of PLW Creator and Visionary. The first Peace Love World item appeared in 2006 at private "Love Party" hosted by Villasante. Villasante would give shirts to her friends at the annual party, and eventually VIllasante grew it into a full business.
In 2009, Villasante opened the first PLW store in South Miami, Florida. That same year, it was joined by a Coral Gables, FL pop-up shop, and an outpost at Boston's Logan Airport. Today, Peace Love World operates four retail stores in Florida, including two in Miami, one each in Coral Gables and Doral, plus a retail website. Additionally, the brand's products are stocked in more than 500 boutiques.
Media, Events, and Celebrity Following
Peace Love World appears on American network television shows like Dancing With The Stars and So You Think You Can Dance?. In 2009, So You Think You Can Dance Season Five winner Jeanine Mason was named a "PLW Brand Ambassador"
Additional celebrities and personalities seen in Peace Love World apparel include Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Sarah Palin,Nicole Scherzinger, Steven Tyler,Kim Kardashianand Jennifer Lopez, who wore the brand in her video for 2011 single "Papi."
Charity and Civic Contributions
Peace Love World contributes to social causes through sales and donations. Such projects include "T's 4 Tots," which gives one shirt to a child for every tee sold. Villasante also created the "One World One Love" Campaign. In November 2010 and January 2011, Peace Love World travelled to Haiti with non-profit health organization Partners in Health to aid in post-Earthquake relief. The brand continues to support its Haiti efforts by donating to Partners in Health.
