Monotone is a very successful Electro based music label founded, operated and owned by Larry "Exzakt" McCormick. Larry is also the founder, owner, and operator of Electro-Digital.com, Electrowax.com, Electro-Alliance.net and WeLoveBassMusic.com

Beginning

Monotone was founded in 2001 with the release of the Musik Is The [...] Remixes EP; An album consisting of remixed versions of Exzakt's original track "Musik Is The [...]", which was released a year earlier on the Frajile Records record label. At the time, Exzakt was a rising star in his production swiftly moving from just a DJ to world class producer of Electro and Electro Bass music in a short amount of time.

In 2004, with the success of the Musik Is The [...] EP and a few earlier Monotone EP's, Larry created Electrowax.com; A website where DJ's and artists from around the world could purchase Electro music strictly on vinyl. Monotone became a coveted and very respectable label during this time with big name artists appearing on the releases such as Exzakt, Ghosts In The Machine, Hydrauilx, Dynamix II, and Jackal & Hyde. Until 2010, all Monotone releases were released via 12" records on Electrowax, but with the rapid decline of record sales, and with digital MP3 releases becoming more and more prevalent, the label was forced to convert over to the digital realm.

In 2010, Larry created and now operates Electro-Digital.com, a massive and centralized focus on all types and forms of Electro where users can purchase all previous and most recent releases from Monotone, as well as other Electro from artists from around the world, direct from one website.

Present

Monotone now has 40 released EP's to date and has featured artists such as Exzakt, Ghosts In The Machine, Hydrauilx, Dynamix II, Jackal & Hyde, Code Rising, Kounterakt, Anthony Nuzzo, EVO, Dynamik Bass System, and D.O.H. just to name a few. The label's goal is to continue to stay on the leading edge of the harder and edgier Electro and Miami Bass genre as well as help broaden the Electro scene as a whole via Electro-Digital.com. Electro-Digital.com is now the leading place to buy Electro tracks in a digital format. All new Monotone releases are now exclusively released on Electro-Digital.com in MP3 format, and at a 320kbit/s bit rate.
