Paulette Garin
Paulette Garin (born May 19, 1962) is a Democratic politician in Wisconsin, currently serving as the Wisconsin State Coordinator of the Progressive Democrats of America. She was a 2008 Democratic Candidate for the United States House of Representatives from Wisconsin's 1st congressional district. Additionally, she currently serves as the Wisconsin Coordinator of the Leadership Conference for Guaranteed Health Care.
Biography
Early life and education
Garin attended Bain and Jefferson Elementary Schools, and Washington Junior High. Upon her graduation from Bradford High School, she attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater on a 4-year music department scholarship graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Music, and a minor in German. She attended Loyola University Chicago where she completed her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. In addition, she became the School Music Teacher and Coordinator for St. Paul Lutheran School. In 2005, Paulette attended the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Accounting.
Political Career
She assumed the role of State coordinator of the Progressive Democrats of America in 2008. The Southeast Wisconsin Chapter she heads encompasses Wisconsin’s 1st, 4th and 5th Congressional Districts.
2008 Wisconsin Congressional elections
Garin was seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Representative Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), but lost the primary on September 9, 2008. According to some news sources and her personal blog, she is considering a run in 2010.
