Paul Vance (American football)
Paul C. Vance is an attorney for Foley & Lardner LLP. He is also the Senior Vice President of Football Operations and General Counsel for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League, a member of the firm's Commercial Transactions & Business Counseling and Transactional & Securities Practices.
Jaguars
Paul joined the Jaguars in 1994, after 21 years of private practice in Connecticut. He began his tenure with the Jaguars as the team's general counsel. In November, 2001 Paul was promoted to the head of football operations. The job placed him in charge of the Jaguars’ salary cap strategy and their player contract negotiations for both draft picks and free agents.
Associations
Vance is also a member of the Florida Bar Association, the Connecticut Bar Association and American Bar Association. He is on the board of trustees of the Jacksonville Museum of Science and History, the board of the MaliVai Washington Foundation, and the board of directors of the Jacksonville Branch of the National Coalition for Community and Justice. He also sits on the advisory board of the Business School at the University of North Florida, and has been appointed to the Jacksonville Tourism Task Force. Prior to joining Foley & Lardner LLP in 1994, Paul was a partner in Cummings & Lockwood in Stamford, Connecticut. There he focused his practice on corporate, securities, and taxation law.
Education
Vance received his J.D. degree in 1973 from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He earned his bachelor's degree, in economics, at the University of Rochester in 1969.
College sports
Paul played baseball and captained the school's basketball team while at the University of Rochester.
