P. Vijayalekshmi (Politician & Healthcare Executive)

P. Vijayalekshmi (born April 5, 1974) is an Indian politician and healthcare administrator. She currently serves as the District Vice President for the Chengalpattu North District of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and is the Chief Executive Officer of the Sankara Groups of hospitals and educational institutions.

Early Life and Education

Vijayalekshmi was born in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu, to Dr. N. Parameswaran Nair and P. Rajammal. She began her public life at the age of five as a spiritual orator. She holds a Master in Commerce (M.Com) degree.

Professional Career

Vijayalekshmi has served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sankara Groups for 17 years. In this role, she manages approximately 5,000 employees across several medical and educational institutions, including:

Political Career

A long-standing member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 1992, Vijayalekshmi has held various leadership roles within the party:

  • Current Role: District Vice President (Chengalpattu North) and Election Organizer for the Pallavaram Assembly Constituency.
  • Past Roles: State Secretary of the Education Wing, District President of the Thinker Cell, and District General Secretary of the Mahila Morcha.

She is actively involved in grassroots party work, including booth-strengthening initiatives (Booth Valimai Paduthum Payanam) and organizing protests against local government policies.

Social Work and Philanthropy

Through her professional and personal initiatives, she has led several social welfare programs in the Pallavaram and Pammal regions:

  • Healthcare: Over the last 18 years, she has organized more than 10,000 free medical camps, providing eye surgeries and medical services to over 200,000 beneficiaries.
  • Community Support: She is the founder of the Aathiyumanavan Aanmeega Sangam, which assists women in forming self-help groups and provides financial aid for education and marriages.
