OZ-16MSX-D Scorpio
The OZ-16MSX-D Scorpio is a fictional mobile suit/mobile doll from the After Colony timeline, as featured in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and its spinoffs. The Scorpio itself was a central element of the manga Battlefield of Pacifists.
History
Developed in secret at the mobile doll factory Vulkanus, the Scorpio was intended as the "watchdog" of the plant. Though details seem sketchy, it is GeneRally assumed that the Scorpio is a development of the OZ-02MD Virgo and its descendants. The Scorpio was developed by the Romefeller Foundation without regards to cost; thus, it is the largest mobile suit ever produced in the After Colony era, and boasts both INCredible performance as well as full Gundanium armor. However, the prohibitive costs, as well as the fact that the Foundation was all but dissolved shortly after Scorpio was commissioned, ensured that the machine remained unique. Furthermore, Vulkanus drifted out of stable Earth ORBit, leaving its existence as little more than a rumor.
The Scorpio is also somewhat unique in that it was designed with a one-way transformation. Starting off in a high-speed mobile armor mode, the MS can jettison several parts including the rear skirt and propellant tanks to transform into a standard mobile suit; however, this means that it cannot reassume mobile armor mode in the Heat of Battle. The Scorpio's main weapon was a beam bayonet, which combined a powerful beam rifle and a large beam saber into one deadly weapon. Its shoulders and chest mounted a total of thirty micromissile launchers, and it carried an A.S. planet defensor, a scaled-up version of the Virgo's defensive system that functioned as a beam shield. In mobile armor mode, the Scorpio mounted two beam bayonets, as well as a heat rod trailing from its rear skirt armor.
In the summer of After Colony 196, several factions began persuing the rumors regarding Vulkanus, all intent on possessing the factory and its mobile dolls for their own purposes. When the groups approached Vulkanus, the Scorpio activated and began attacking on its own thanks to its mobile doll system. In the heat of battle, Perfect Peace People leader Victor Gaintz used the Scorpio's access code, deactivating the MD system and allowing him to take control of the machine. Declaring that he would bring peace by his own means, Gaintz soon found himself opposed by the Gundam Pilots, who refused to allow Vulkanus to fall into such hands. Though he survived for some time, Gaintz was ultimately outclassed, and both he and the Scorpio were destroyed by Heero Yuy and his XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero.

Trivia
- The Scorpio derives its name from the constellation Scorpius, sometimes called Scorpio; the name comes from its shape in mobile armor mode, which is highly reminescent of a scorpion.
- It is unknown if the beam bayonets can function as beam sabers while the Scorpio is in mobile armor mode, but the video game SD Gundam G Generation F makes the assumption that they can. The game also assumes that the heat rod can be used like a scorpion's tail, rather than beign limited to fly-by attacks as the OZ-13MS Gundam Epyon's mobile armor mode was.
- Some discrepancies can be found between the mobile suit mode and the mobile armor mode, which result in the Scorpio's transformation seeming unfeasable. This is because The Two modes were designed by different people; veteran designer Junya Ishigaki designed the mobile suit mode, while Koichi Tokita, artist of Battlefield of Pacifists, designed the mobile armor mode later on.
