OrganoClick AB, based in Stockholm, Sweden, is a company that sells chemical formulations and licenses for modifying all cellulose-based materials in the green way. Since the start in 2006, the company has collaborated with partners from several industry sectors on numerous development projects.

Founders

The founders of this company are researchers JOnAS Hafrén and Armando Córdova, business developers Saeid Esmaeilzadeh and Ashkan Pouya, with Mårten Hellberg being the CEO. The mission of the company is to develop important functions for cellulose-based materials such as water-resistance, dry- and wet-strength using green chemistry.

History

OrganoClick was founded in 2006 based on scientific breakthroughs in methods for modifications of biofibers made by the co-founders, Associate Professor Jonas Hafrén at the Swedish University for Agricultural Sciences, and Associate Professor Armando Córdova at Stockholm University.

Business segments

Using their patented technology, OrganoClick changes the properties of different cellulose-based materials such as paper, textiles and wood by attaching functional molecules to the cellulose fibers at low temperature using organic molecules.

Employing OrganoClick Technology to modify cellulose fibers

Paper

OrganoClick is able to produce paper with increased strength or even, water-resistance. This inexpensive method also reduces the raw materials required for paper production.

Textiles

OrganoClick utilizes methods to make cotton fabrics hydrophobic, with the advantage of replacing the non-environmentally friendly fluorocarbons. Also, increased strength properties in nonwoven textiles can be obtained.

Wood

OrganoClick develops a technology that is able to [...] wood decay. It can also be applied to other biofiber-based materials such as fiberboard.

Current Activities

OrganoClick is involved in developmental projects with industrial corporations in the paper and textile industries. The expected commercial product launch will be in 2009 or 2010.
