Olivia Soldana

Olivia Soldana is the Main character in the shōnen pirate Original English-language manga Destiny's Hand written by Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Wei.

Part in Story

Olivia Saldana is the main character in the manga Destiny's Hand. Destiny's Hand is a ship crewed by the gentleman pirate, Captain Sebastian Blaine, who she cares for the most out of everyone in her life. When Blaine's only one good lung is punctured and he is on his deathbed he has one last wish to fulfil before he dies; he wants to find the Devil's Eye, a magical relic which can destroy whole towns or create new ones. He chooses Olivia to serve as captain saying that she is following Captain Blaine's orders while secretly she is really the captain. She does this because the crew would not serve under a woman, no matter if they could better any other man.

Appearance

Olivia has reddish-brown hair and bright blue eyes. She is quite skinny and of average height. She is also quite beautiful for she has many men falling for her throughout the series.

Olivia is usually seen wearing purple gloves with holes for the fingers that go up to about half way between her elbow and shoulder. A little before the top are two silver buckles that tighten the gloves. She wears a purple shirt which straps around her neck and which reaches her waist. Around her middle (just about under her cleavage) there is a light brown "cape". It hangs down to the ground and has two brown buckles in the front to secure it. It also has even lighter brown edging. For pants, Olivia wears some short brown shorts with a greyish-silver belt and buckle. In her belt she usually caries her two pistols and the sword that Captain Blaine gave her. The sword is a representation of the fondness between the two characters. Olivia wears boots that go up to about two inches beneath her shorts. They are purple up top until they reach right about between her foot and her knee where they then turn into a brown color. about 4 cm. beneath the top of the boot there are two brown latches like those on her gloves. On the top of both feet she has a silver barrier latched on. Last she has a pirate hat that was given to her by Captain Blaine the day she joined the crew. It has Olivia's "symbol" clipped onto it.

For weapons Olivia starts out with nothing except things she "borrows" from her crewmates. Later after a bad attempt to retrieve Elias Houghton, Captain Blaine gives her a sword of her own. It represents the caring and fondness between these two characters and the bond that they hold. It is Olivia's prized weapon and you hardly see her without it. She also carries two pistols but I am not quite sure where she got them.

Miss Soldana has a tattoo on her left shoulder of a white skull. Behind the skull are two pistols crossing each other in the back. There is also a sword running straight down in the back. Everyone on the crew of Destiny's Hand has one except for Elias but later in the story he also gets one. Lars Mulgrew has a tattoo also because, as you should know, the crew of Destiny's Hand were not the only pirates who had tattoos.

Relationships with Other Characters

Elias Houghton - Elias is the index finger in destiny's hand. He is also a love interest for Olivia and yet they are complete opposites. Olivia loves pirates, Elias hates pirates. Olivia is brave and daring, Elias is a scholar and a sometimes a coward. Olivia is a pirate, Elias is a scholar. When Olivia would rather be out in the open sea, Elias would rather be at home reading a book. In short they really don't like each other. Because they are opposite, it seems to create a spark in which they can't resist. In other words Elias is probably the best choice for Olivia in romance.

Lars Mulgrew - Lars Mulgrew is what we know, deep down inside, that real pirates were like. Lars Mulgrew is an evil pirate captain and Olivia's worst nightmare. He was the one who put Captain Blaine in his deathbed and Olivia will never forgive him. When the artist Melvin Calingo created Mulgrew the creators fell in love with the design instantly. There was one thing that they hadn't anticipated though, Melvin made Mulgrew really sexy. They even admit it. They also say that because he made him so sexy they have to think about putting some [...] tension between Mulgrew and Olivia. Only time will tell I guess.

Captain Sebastian Blaine - Captain Blaine had been like a father to Olivia ever since her own father disowned her the day that she joined Blaine's crew. They share a bond that no one could break and Olivia would do anything for him. She would even put her life on the line. None of the other crew have the same connections to the captain as Olivia does; he saved her from a life that she could not live.

Diego Basteon - Diego is the ship's boatswain (pronounced bosun). He has a very short temper and doesn't see why the captain like Olivia so much. He has a grudge against Olivia for insulting him by beating him and then keeping him alive the day that they came about Olivia's father's ship. If it were up to Diego I would say that he would probably have Olivia thrown off the boat sometimes. He is one of the top reasons why Captain Blaine is keeping Olivia's captaining a secret for Diego would never be up to it. He is also the middle finger on destiny's hand.

Fredrik Matthau - Mr.Matthau is the strategist and navigator on the ship. He cares for Olivia because he knows that Olivia is a fine young woman and is good enough to have as much, if not more, respect as a man. Mr.Matthau is the thumb on destiny's hand.

Badru - Badru is a member of the crew and a very good friend of Olivia's. He is a native from one of the outer island and respects Blaine's judgement at being a gentleman pirate. Olivia hates when Badru has to pretend to be her servant because she knows that he is much better than that and is even rather smart. Badru is the pinky on destiny's hand.

Thomas Houghton - Mr.Houghton is the governor of St.Vickensburg. He hates pirates and especially hates Captain Blaine for they have a dark past together. Since he doesn't like pirates you can just conclude that Olivia really hates him.

Michel Langrisse - Michel's parents were good friends with Olivia's parents. In the beginning of the story it says that Olivia was going to Valroux to get an arranged marriage. Well, you guessed it, Michel was the one that she was supposed to marry. He s the captain of a navy ship and really likes Olivia, though she has no feelings except friendship and contempt with him.
