Oleg Mikhailovich Kokhan (born July 2, 1976) is a Ukrainian film producer. He was the first Ukrainian to receive the Russian Nika Award, for the film Two in One directed by Kira Muratova (Best Film among Commonwealth of Independent States and Baltic countries 2007). He received two more Nika Awards in 2009 for the film Birds of Paradise directed by Roman Balayan (Best Film among CIS and Baltic countries 2009), and in 2012 for the film Eternal Redemption directed by Kira Muratova (Best Film among Commonwealth of Independent States and Baltic countries 2012).

Biography

TV projects

Oleg Kokhan was born in 1976 in Kyiv. In 2001 he graduated from the International Institute of Linguistics and Law with a degree in international economics. Since his studentship he has been working in television, participating in various TV projects of the UT-1 channel. After some time, he was coordinating a promo-campaign of the film festival Stozhary, as a promotion manager and executive producer. He acquired a lot of practical experience as an executive producer during his work in Kiev's Novyi kanal TV channel.

Film producing

At a later stage, a young businessman appeared both as a founder and a co-founder of several firms, which soon became the foundation for creating a holding company SOTA Cinema Group. During the last six years SOTA Cinema Group released 9 films which received various prizes, such as: Silver Mark Aurelius at International Rome Film Festival, Silver Lion at Circuito Off Venice International Short Film Festival, Saint George at Moscow International Film Festival, Russian Nika Award, White Elephant, etc.

In 2010 Oleg Kokhan participated in main contest at Cannes Film Festival with My Joy, (director Sergei Loznitsa) and in special program with Chantrapas (director Otar Iosseliani).

Publication of books

Oleg Kokhan greatly contributed to the publication of such books as: Anti-Ranevskaya by Oleg Vergelis, Novel with Balayan by Zinaida Furmanova, Muratova. Movie-anthropology experience by Mihail Yampolskiy, Back to roots. Ukrainian poetic movie by Ioanna Levitskaya. Furthermore he helped to publish several photobooks: Shot after shot: Kira Muratova by Konstantin Donin, Ivan Mykolaichuk: magic of love and Bogdan Stupka: for 70th anniversary.

Starting from 2011, Oleg Kokhan holds a position of content producer in Bleen Inc., San Francisco, California. Due to Oleg's well-known reputation as a true professional and his numerous contacts in the USA, Europe, Asia he is going to be Bleen's image around the world. Taking into account his business communication experience, ability to promote the idea and get out the message makes him a driving force and a crucial element in Bleen machine. Oleg works with such innovative technologies as: Teleimmersion (32 cameras used simultaneously to take rapid shots from different sides and at different angles) which allows to create virtual images and motion capture system, which makes it possible to create high-quality animation and to record movements of objects or people in the most detailed way (e.g. computer-generated characters from Avatar movie, Gollum from Lord of The Rings, Davy Jones from Pirates of the Caribbean, Hulk from Marvel's The Avengers etc.).

This project is an ambitious joint venture of such countries as: the USA, India, Russia and Ukraine.
