Nozstock Festival of Performing Arts

Nozstock is an annual music and performing arts festival on the outskirts of Bromyard, in Herefordshire, England. The Festival has over 8 stages of live entertainmnet.

In 2008 some of the musicians performing included Royworld, Utah Saints, The Anomalies and Hayseed Dixie.

The latest overgrown party to hit the UK festival scene is beckoning new talent to perform as part of its 120+ acts billing this year. The festival showcases every array of MusicAL and artistic performance across 8 stages and more hidden areas, enclosed in the intimate and homely environs of a 17th century farm in Herefordshire, but this year ups its programming to include some of the UK’s freshest trendsetters and talented musicians.

Formed only two years ago and already boasting a tour with The Editors as part of their credentials, the alt-indie rock five piece RED LIGHT COMPANY will be wowing crowds with their anthemic tunes. Giving them a run for their money, Welsh indie pop three-piece THE JOY FORMIDABLE will be playing their pre-order sell out single ‘A Balloon Called Moaning’ amongst their other heart-stopping tracks. A bit of punk chicanery will be introduced by quirky punk outfit BADDIES, and the band self-claimed as ‘formed from a packet of pro plus pills’ and with tours with the Kooks and Pete Doherty under their belts, BLEECH will be punching out their angsty rock rhythms. TWO DOOR CINEMA CLUB with new release ‘Something Good Can Work’ will be dropping indie-electro whimsy into the bill and new princess of folk ALESSI’S ARK will be blowing crowds away with her haunting pop melodies. Dusting off with electro-disco jockeys THE SLIPS, the main stage line-ups are looking enough to whet the most stoical appetite.

And that’s to say nothing of local favourites, hip hop officianados THE ANOMALIES, previous supports to Kid British and Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. They enter the Nozstock ring for a ska-off with Bristolian operators BABYHEAD, yet to christen Nozstock with their high-energy bass-heavy ramblings. And to crown the weekend’s bill of top talent, Saturday night sees the BUZZCOCKS bringing back their timeless anthems to the crowd of 5000.

Complementing this muso’s line-up, the dance programme hosts breakbeat heaven in the form of the SCRATCH PERVERTS + DYNAMITE MC, KRAFTY KUTZ, and SUBSOURCE. Not to be outdone, drum ‘n’ dub fans can enjoy the dark and dirty beats of RUSKO with the high-octane vibrations of d’n’b highflyer ANDY C with MC GQ and LONDON ELEKTRICITY. And West country psytrance diehards TRIBE OF FROG will be kicking out more beats to get the muscles moving.

Thanks to its late license and homegrown venues, Nozstock is well placed to give its punters all the fun and frivolity of a real festival, without the corporate sheen. Alongside the music billing, the festival offers round-the-clock comedy with ROB DEERING and ALUN COCHRANE headlining, theatre, street arts, short films, a dedicated kid’s area and late night burlesque.

...which all spells a pretty top weekend at only £60-70 per ticket (free camping and parking, 13s and under free).
