At the time of its establishment in 1968, it was the largest Budo academy of its type in the world. It held classes in Karatedo, Judo, Aikido, Kendo, Iaido, Naginata, Jukendo and Kobudo. On Masafumi Suzuki's passing in 1991, the academy was placed under the direction of his senior assistant instructor, Yasuo Kawano, at the time a holder of eighth dan in Karatedo. Kancho Kawano continues to lead the academy both in Japan and world wide. The academy continues today with branches world wide including Australia under the direction of Sensei Michael Creedy. Sensei Creedy has been with the Academy since 1988 having the opportunity of personally training and being graded by Kancho Suzuki before his passing in 1991, and continues to represent the body under Kancho Kawano today.
