Nesrin Cavadzade (karateka)
Nesrin Cavadzade is a Turkish para-karateka. Competing in the K30 wheelchair category, Cavadzade represents the Turkey national team. She won bronze medals at the World Karate Championships in 2023 in Budapest and in 2025 in Cairo. In the para-karate events held as part of the European Karate Championships, she won gold medals in 2024 in Zadar and in 2025 in Yerevan, and a bronze medal in 2023 in Guadalajara.
Personal life
Cavadzade stayed away from sport for a long period after a traffic accident left her with a walking disability. She later reconnected with sport after her children began karate and then turned to para-karate. Training under Ahmet Şan, Cavadzade became one of the first athletes of the Turkey national para-karate team.
Career
Cavadzade began karate through her children's interest in the sport. She soon moved into para-karate competitions and became one of the athletes who rose to national-team level during the development of the discipline in Turkey. In 2022, she won the gold medal in the women's wheelchair K30 category at the European Para-Karate Championships held in Kocaeli. The same year, she finished fifth in the same category at the European Para-Karate Championships in Gaziantep.
In 2023, Cavadzade won the bronze medal in the women's wheelchair K30 category at the European Para-Karate Championships held as part of the 2023 European Karate Championships in Guadalajara, Spain. The same year, she also won the bronze medal at the World Para-Karate Championships held as part of the 2023 World Karate Championships in Budapest, Hungary. She reached the podium after defeating Egypt's Amal Soliman in the bronze-medal contest.
In 2024, she won the gold medal in the women's K30 category at the European Para-Karate Championships held as part of the 2024 European Karate Championships in Zadar, Croatia. In the final, she defeated host-nation athlete Julija Karadakić to become European champion.
In 2025, Cavadzade finished first in para-karate at the Turkish Karate Championships held in Trabzon and completed the national-team selections in first place. The same year, she won the gold medal in the women's K30 category at the European Para-Karate Championships held as part of the 2025 European Karate Championships in Yerevan, Armenia. Cavadzade also won the bronze medal in the women's K30 category at the World Para-Karate Championships held as part of the 2025 World Karate Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
