Nasr Mahrous is a video clip and film producer and director, he is also a lyricist. Nasr Mahrous is known as one of the best music producers in Egypt.. He is famous for discovering 2 of the most talented singers in the middle east, Sherine Ahmed and Tamer Hosny..
Biography
He started at a very early age in the world of music when he was working with his father Mr. Mahrous Abdelmesih, who was also one of the biggest music makers in the 70’s, working in Cairo and other surrounding villages with Artists such as Mohamed Roshdi, Karem Mahmoud, Moharram Fouad and Mohamed Kandeel, he has also worked with female artists like Nadia Mostafa, Sabrine and many others.
Nasr Mahrous worked at that period as a Cassette distributor for the albums his father would produce, his brother Amir Mahrous was working with him too, (Amir is also one of the biggest sound engineers in the middle east currently) the two brothers would travel from town to town and village to village all over Egypt distributing their Father’s productions.
Late 80’s Nasr Mahrous decided to found his own company after he has discovered his passion to music and his ability in making unique music.. so he founded his company by the name of FREE MUSIC, he then started discovering talents and the lucky number one was the singer Amin Sami who released 3 successful albums.
But before Nasr Mahrous continued discovering voices and singers, he decided to go on a path where no one has ever gone before, he rediscovered artists.. wiped off the dust on some and refreshed others, and helped them successfully to go back to the top the charts.
Samir Sroor was known as one of the best musician for playing saxophone, he was among the Maseya Band with the late singer Abdelhalim Hafez (Equivalent to Elvis Priestly), Sroor stopped playing music for a long time after Abdelhalim Hafez died in the 70’s, Nasr Mahrous helped him get over it by releasing 5 of the most successful instrumental albums under the name (Ashek Essax) meaning Saxophone Lover.. the albums included instrumental pieces of Abdelhalim Hafez famous tracks.
Khaled Agag had a great masculine voice, he released 4 albums with a few huge hits that was filmed as video clips directed by Nasr Mahrous himself.
Mohammed Fouad was already a famous singer, but felt the sense Nasr Mahrous had for music, so he signed his first film with a soundtrack album (Kamannana), the film and soundtrack were great success and another 2 albums were released by Free Music company .. Elhob Elhaee’ee was the final and most successful album released between Fouad and Mahrous.. who directed the video clip of the song Elhob Elhaee’ee, meaning True Love.. Mahrous hired only kids to be a part of this famous video showing the importance of family love.
Another young artist joined the team of Free Music, Mohamed Mohie release 2 albums of which Nasr Mahrous direct 3 video clips of the hit songs.
Nasr Mahrous admired so much the voice of a singer from the 80’s, Mohamed Mouir in the late 90’s was far away from the music field, Nasr Mahrous contacted him and they both worked together and released 2 of the most successful albums Mounir ever released (Fi Eshk Elbanat –The love of girls) and (Albi Masaken shaabeya – My Heart is suburbans).
Bahaa Sultan who was discovered through one of the Free Mix compilations became a superstar and released so far 4 major successful albums with huge hits such as (Oum Ou’af wenta betkalemni – Stand up when you talk to me) and another hit (Elwad Albo beyewga’oo – The Lad’s heart aches) .
Early 2002 Nasr Mahrous challenged the world with 2 of the most famous voices in the Arab World. Sherine Abdelwahab and Tamer Hosni, they both still until this day on top of all music lists, their voices and the choice of music and lyrics made by Nasr Mahrous helped them get to then she decided to break off her contract with Nasr Mahrous to move to a bigger production company..
Tamer Hosni on the other hand, stuck to the side of Nasr Mahrous and released so far 4 very successful albums, the last one (Arrab Kaman - Get Closer) was released recently in June 2008.. Tamer also starred in Nasr Mahrous’s debut film (Captain Hima) , Not only Nasr Mahrous directed the film but it was also his story.. The film was overbooked for days in all movie theaters in the first week and so far it is a great success..
Free Baby was the first album made fully for kids.. it included 8 songs sang by kids, Mary Nikoula, Tamer Hosni and Nasr Mahrous himself, he sang 2 songs (Heb Baba – Love Your Dad) Nasr directed this song himself and also acted in it at the same time, it was shot in Zante the Greek Island.. The other song sang by Nasr was (Old Hareedi - insipired from Old McDonald).. But what was more important than these 2 songs was the song (Baba Fen – Where’s you Dad) this song was a great success, that the kids sang and acted in its video clip directed by Nasr Mahrous, all of those kids became actors and singers by other production companies..
Souma is the second female voice signed with Nasr Mahrous, she has an extraordinary voice, she released one album so far (Eib Alek – Shame on you) and she is still working on other albums.
Nasr Mahrous is also known for being one of the most romantic lyricists, 34 songs hit songs were written by him and sang only by the Free Music artists..
After all the success Nasr Mahrous id having, he never stopped working with his father.. Mr. Mahrous and his Eldest Son Nasr still do certain productions together and have released many albums together, such as recently Camellia and Mohamed Roshdi and many others.
Mr. Mahrous also owns 2 of the most famous recording studios ( M-Sound 1 and M- Sound 2) the studios are run by his 2 other sons, Amir Mahrous- the biggest sound Engineer in the middle east and Hani Mahrous.. All of the artists that are working with Free Music record their songs at the M- Sound studios, plus many many other singers from all over the Arab World.
