Mr. Underground
Mr. Underground is an underground DJ based in Texas.
Mixtapes Mr. Underground has been dropping mixtapes on the streets of Texas and surrounding states since 2003 and is building a spreading fanbase with his newest releases and collaborative mixtapes. His entrance to the mixtape arena was in 2003 with "Fresh Out Da Shack." His most recent mixtape is "Underground Road Trip" which has been featured in OZONE Magazine, Buzz Magazine, www.certifiedhiphop.com, www.sosouth.com, www.wordofsouth.com, www.thescrewshop.com, and www.ttownmusic.net Underground Road Trip was released under limited distribution but often was the highest selling mixtape in stores where it was sold. In addition to his own mix cds Mr. Underground has mixed cds for various underground artists such as Smoke, Chuck Feeze, and Da Practice. Mr. Underground releases his mixtapes under the Small World Music Group imprint also based in Texas.
Radio After the immediate success of his 1st mixape "Fresh Out Da Shack" Mr. Underground accepted a position as an on air DJ/radio personality at the Y101.9 Street Party in Lufkin Texas in 2003 which he maintained until late 2004. Mr. Underground also created and hosted "The Underground Sound Machine" at his alma mater Stephen F. Austin State University in 2006 and was recognized as the station's top talent.
Future Projects As of July 2007 Mr. Underground was working on the follow up to Underground Road Trip which is expected to be available August 2007. He has stated that after Vol. 2 he'll release a screwed and chopped remix disc. Also in his plans is a mixtape with Brooklyn rapper Frank B which is sure to make noise in the industry.
Style "Southern Flavor with an international twist" is one of many phrases Mr. Underground uses to describe his MusicAL tastes and DJ style. He grew up mostly in Texas as the son of an Italian father and Slovenian-American mother and spent many of his formative years in Europe including a 3 year tour of duty with the U.S. Army and the music he heard in clubs in countries such as Spain, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, and Germany has influenced his style. His earliest hip-hop influences include Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, ESG, HAWK, Fat Pat, Lil Keke, Lil O, Lil Flip, Yungstar, DJ Screw and many more members of the Screwed Up Click. On a typical Mr. Underground mixtape you'll hear many songs you've never heard before and a few of the best mainstream songs of the moment all mixed together. He is known for having a variety of song styles on a cd including street, hip-hop & r&b, club, and feel good songs. He also tries to put music from all over the U.S. with a good amount of Texas and southern rap and the best from all regions.
