Moustafa Mourad
Moustafa W. Mourad is an American otolaryngologist and facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He currently serves as the Division Chief in the Department of Surgery at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and Flushing Hospital Medical Center in New York and is affiliated with Lenox Hill Hospital.
Early life and education
Mourad was born in Buffalo, New York. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics at the University of Alberta in 2007. He earned a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in 2011. Mourad completed his residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He later completed a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Baylor All Saints Medical Center.
Career
Mourad is a double board-certified surgeon by both the American Board of Otolaryngology (ABOTO) and the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). He was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2019, and as a Fellow of American Head and Neck Surgeons (AHNS) in 2024. He serves as the Division Chief in the Department of Surgery at both Jamaica Hospital and Flushing Hospital. His clinical focus includes head and neck oncological surgery, reconstructive surgery, as well as cosmetic surgery of the face and neck.
He serves as a Fellowship Director under the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS).
Research and publications
Mourad has authored or co-authored more than 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the fields of head and neck oncology, facial nerve reanimation, and reconstructive surgery.
