Miss Millennium Queen

Miss Millennium Queen is an annual beauty pageant and national level beauty pageant held in Ethiopia to select representatives from Ethiopia for the major International Grand slam beauty pageants.

The reigning Miss Millennium Queen is Kidan Tesfahun, who represented Ethiopia at the Miss Earth 2008 pageant in Manila.

First held in August 2007 at the Ethiopian National Theater, It replaced the Miss Universe Ethiopia pageant as the title of the Premier pageant for Young Ethiopian women, and for the first time also encompassed a Miss Millennium Teen pageant which remains the only pageant exclusively for teenagers in Ethiopia. Winners from Miss Millennium Queen go on to attend International Grand slam pageants such as:

• Miss Universe,
• Miss Earth,
• Miss International,
• Miss Tourism Queen International

and several other top ranked International pageants.1

History

Up till 2006 the Premier national pageant in Ethiopia was called Miss Universe Ethiopia the winner from that pageant went to Miss Universe and in most cases Miss Earth. In 2007 the name was changed to reflect the new Ethiopian Millennium to Miss Millennium Queen and Miss Millennium Teen was also started for teenage girls in Ethiopia, the first EDition was held on 19th August 2007. 17 Misses aged 18 years older and up, and 18 Teens aged between 15 and 17 years old took part in the contest.2.

Location

Miss Millennium Queen and Miss Millennium Teen pageants took place at the Ethiopian National Theater on 17th and 19th of August 2007 respectively.3
