Michael LaPointe

Michael LaPointe (born 1987) is a Canadian author, editor and DJ living in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Michael is currently the editor of Tyee Books at The Tyee. He wrote his first article for The Tyee when he was in Grade 11 AbOUT the use of instant messaging by teens . In 2008, Michael began writing book reviews for the online magazine and became editor of the book section later that year.

Michael graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts in 2009.

Michael is having a short story published in the upcoming issue of Joyland: A hub for short fiction-.

Michael is known in Vancouver as a member of the Girlfight DJ team. Along with Andy Dixon, Michael has hosted many successful events in the city since 2009 and received favorable reviews for opening for the GZA at the Pit Pub.. House Party, the Tuesday night dance party at the Biltmore Cabaret, was created by Girlfight but they are no longer involved With It.

Additionally, Michael has been a part of other independent scenes in Vancouver as a writer for Discorder and the now defunct Tooth and Dagger magazine. He also was involved in the production of "Dogthello"
