Michael Fryatt
Michael "Mike" Richard Carter Fryatt (born 6 September 1988 on the Wirral Peninsula, England) is an English auto racing driver.
Career
Fryatt took part in amateur karting races from age 8, but never pursued it further. A brief return at the age of 16 proved unfruitful and he chose instead to focus on a career in cars. Between 2006 and 2009 Fryatt competed in numerous karting races with mediocre success and broke his ribs twice.
Between 2006 and 2008, Fryatt attended courses with the Silverstone Motorsport Academy, gaining his racing licence and completing numerous single-seater track tests. Fryatt's racing career started in 2009 in the 750 motor club's Formula 4 Championship, competing in the Revelation Series. A crash in pre-season testing at Oulton Park almost delayed competition in this series. Fryatt left the track Clay Hill, hitting the barrier and destroying his car and helmet. He was lifted out of the car with his head being supported by marshals and a neck brace whilst strapped to a back board. He left in an ambulance but suffered no serious injuries. Racing in a Revelation Motorsport factory run car Fryatt took nine class podiums out of ten races, finishing second in the Revelation series.
Since 2006 Fryatt has driven under Red Bull Racing livery.
Helmet design
Fryatt's helmets are heavily influenced by energy drink company Red Bull's logo and are noted for the inclusion of a grey-scale Union Flag which has been adopted by numerous professional drivers and the Eastern cross (representing his Greek heritage).
