Michael Agyekum Addo
Michael Agyekum Addo (born 3 January 1950) was a Ghanaian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and founder of the KAMA Group of Companies.
Early life and education
Addo was born in Suhyen, near Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana. He received his secondary education at Ghana Secondary School in Koforidua. He then attended the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy and a master's degree in Industrial Management with a focus on entrepreneurship. In January 2022, at the age of 72, he was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of Ghana.
Career
He founded KAMA Group in 1986 in Kumasi. He served as the President of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association of Ghana (PMAG), a member of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), a member of the Ministerial Advisory Board of the Minister of Education, the Chairman of the Pentecost University College Council, Board Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), a Council member of the Data Link Institute of Business and Technology in Tema, and a member of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).
Death
He died on 31 October 2024 at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.
Personal life
He was married to Ernestina Serwaa Addo.
