Viral video

On December 18, 2015 a video was taken by a male passenger on the Brooklyn A train of Merci standing up for herself to a group of male passengers who were making transphobic slurs. The video starts a few minutes after the argument began so it is unclear what they were disagreeing on. The video shows Chrisette taking a hair separating comb, from her cosmetology class, out of her purse and using it on two of the males who were taunting her on the train. Once she realized that she was being filmed, Merci says to the camera "Hi. I'm used to cameras. Get my good side." Both received scratches from the scuffle but both refused medical treatment. Merci turned herself in to police the following day and was charged with: assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.
