Memeo

Memeo is a media management company that provides solutions for data backup, synchronization, and online storage. Memeo Share is another Memeo product that allows users to privately exchange videos and photos with other users for free. It has a corresponding iPhone application, MemeoPhoto.

Memeo was founded in 2003 and is based in Aliso Viejo, California and has another office in San Jose, California. The company name originally was Tanagra but was changed in 2005. Memeo means β€œThe transfer of a practice or idea that is transmitted from one mind to another.”

The Company was started by Hong Bui, who has held executive and technical leadership positions at Apple Computer, JavaSoft, Visto.com, and Amazon.com. A founder of Visto Corporation, Mr. Bui has been credited with the development of the Java Servlets standard that has now been adopted industry-wide.

Memeo currently partners with some of the largest hard drive and NAS providers including Western Digital, Seagate, Buffalo Tech, Toshiba, and D-Link. Their software is bundled with the hardware to provide backup and syncing software.
