Maul Stanley
Maul Stanley is a parody hybrid of Star Wars character Darth Maul and Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley. He wears a hooded black cloak reminiscent of Darth Maul, spandex pants and platform boots reminiscent of Paul Stanley and black and red face make-up evocative of both. Maul Stanley has appeared at numerous conventions and mixed media events (including the various Star Wars Celebrations), where he performs a form of interactive comedy and shoots comedic video sketches. He has also appeared on VH1 and has been a featured guest at several Kiss expos. While shooting InterViews with fans lined up for the premiere of Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones at New York's Ziegfeld Theatre in 2002, Maul Stanley himself was interviewed (and summarily ridiculed) by Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, an encounter which was included on Triumph's home video compilation in 2004. Lately Maul Stanley has taken to conducting interviews with members of the sci-fi and rock communities like artist Matt Busch, known for his work in both genres. In conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Star Wars in 2007, Maul Stanley interviewed a series or rock stars (Dee Snider, Jay Jay French, Rikki Rockett, Fred Coury and Alex Grossi) AbOUT their love of the Star Wars saga. In 2008, he interviewed former Kiss guitarist Bruce Kulick about both his time in Kiss and his lifelong appreciation of Star Wars. Maul Stanley recently claimed to have recorded a Kiss cover song for an upcoming tribute album, though it has yet to be officially released.
Notes
Maul Stanley often refers to himself in the third person.
He has also been known to refer to himself as "The Sithchild," in reference to the Sith affiliation of Darth Maul and the designation of Paul Stanley's Kiss character, "The Starchild."
Maul Stanley uses a number of catch phrases derived from existing, similar phrases, such as "You've got Maul" and "Maul Hell's Breakin' Loose."
