Maritime Pro Kart Series

The Maritime Pro Kart Series (or MPKS) is a Regional Kart Racing series held in Atlantic Canada.

Structure of the Series

The MPKS is a regional series, serving the four Atlantic Canadian Kart clubs (AMKA in Halifax, Nova Scotia1, CKRA in Moncton, New Brunswick2, IKC on Prince Edward Island3, NBKC in Fredericton, New Brunswick4). This means it is organized and run by a Coordinator, a representative of the regional governing body, the 4 Club Presidents and 4 Club Representatives. Each Club hosts one event per year, and the champions are decided on points scored. A driver drops his or her worst race day and can only keep their best three.5

The MPKS was introduced in 2003 and replaced the Maritime Championship Series6, which had run it's races almost exclusively at CKRA. With the number of clubs in the area rising from two to four in 2001, increased pressure was put on a 4-club, 4-race format to be fair to all drivers.
