Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies

Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies (LNML MILS)(कै नारायण मेघाजी लोखंडे महाराष्ट्र श्रम विज्ञान संस्था) is a Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations institute with its campus based in Parel, Mumbai, India. The college, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, is run by the Government of Maharashtra.

History

Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande Maharashtra Institute of Labour Studies (LNML MILS), was established in July 1947 by the then Government of Bombay owing to the initiative and the guidance of Gulzarilal Nanda, the then Minister for Labour, Bombay. Earlier MILS was known as Bombay Labour Institute(BLI). LNML MILS is a unique institute, one of its kinds in the field of labour studies. It has a glorious past of 64 years and has emerged as a stronger body which has contributed to the economy and industry in many ways. It has been adapting itself to fulfil the ever changing needs of the industry. The students of LNML MILS are well prepared to meet the industry’s requirement which is clearly evident from the list of alumni. The institution has a strong foundation of values and principles.

Academic Programmes

MILS provides management degree from the University of Mumbai and offers programmes which cover studies related to Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations as well as Labour Studies. The three main programmes covered at MILS are Masters in Labour Studies(MLS), Diploma in Trade Unionism and Industrial Relations and Ph.D.

Masters in Labour Studies (M.L.S.)

Masters in Labour Studies (M.L.S.) is a two year full time post graduate degree course which aims to develop specialized professionals by focusing on various comprehensive aspects of both Human Resource Development & Industrial Relations by focusing on both, theory as well as practical. The course is divided into two parts over the course of two years.

MLS Part - 2 (2nd Year)

It is a nine months full time diploma course (Government of Maharashtra)

Ph.D.

Admissions

Admissions to the two year programme MLS are done by conducting 1)Entrance Examination and 2)Group Discussion and Personnel Interview subsequently.
