Macbeth Athletics
Macbeth Athletics or Macbeth Footwear is a company started by Tom Delonge, Mark Hoppus, and a friend. The company is run by musicians for musicians. The company's name is taken from Shakespeare's play, Macbeth. Their logo is a griffin.
The company is heavily influenced by music. Following in Mark Hoppus's footsteps, Macbeth Footwear soon created a podcast. Their very first podcast introduced Angels & Airwaves to the world, featuring music, an interview with the band's members, and a PREview to the movie. There have been four podcasts so far1.
According to an August, 2006 interview with b182.com, Mark Hoppus is in the process of selling his share of Atticus Clothing, as well as Macbeth and LoserKids.com, at least partially due to his falling out with Tom Delonge.
"I have not been creatively involved in any of the companies in nearly a year. That is why you don’t see any photos of me or any mention of my name on the websites, catalogs, etc. We started the companies as a fun way to be creative and work with our friends, and over the past yeah[sic]and a half, it has stopped being fun. Personally, I do not care for the direction the companies or[sic]going in, or how they are being run, so Tom and the other owner are going their way with the companies, and I am going mine. I wish all the employees there the best of luck in the future. It is just not for me anymore."
