List of soccer stampede disasters
This is the list of disasters related with soccer or football occurred while watching in stadium.
- May 24, 1964, 318 died and 500 injured during match between Argentina and Peru when referee disallowed a goal scored at last minute which ignited crowd protest and followed stampede disaster at National Stadium, Lima, Peru.
- October 20, 1982, Luzhniki disaster occurred when 340 people dead due to a stampede followed by the collision between exiting and returning viewers when a goal was scored at Lenin Stadium, Moscow, Russia.
- March 10, 1987, 20 people were killed when panicked soccer fans fled from knife-wielding ruffians and triggered the collapse of a sports stadium in Tripoli, Libya.
- 12 March 1988, 93 people were killed and 100 more injured when fans attempted to flee from a hailstorm inside the national Dasarath Rangasala Stadium watching soccer match between Bangladesh and Nepal at Kathmandu, Nepal.
- April 15, 1989, Hillsborough disaster killed 96 soccer fans watching FA Cup semi-final match between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest football clubs, following a stampede caused when security opened a gate for existing to a viewer but the crowd outside rushed inside at once through the gate at Hillsborough Stadium, Sheffield, England.
