Kylie Whilde

Kylie Whilde was a character in the long running British Channel 4 Teen Drama Byker Grove played by Gayna Milican.

Storylines

Season 13 (2001)

Teen Pregnancy

Kylie arrived in Byker from Liverpool 13 years old and 6 months pregnant with her 3 brothers, 2 sisters, stepfather and mother. She was forced by her family to join the youth club because of her previous bad behaviour back in Liverpool, at first she was anti social to the other people in the club and the youth leaders playing practical jokes on them and getting in fights with Kate Moore and her boyfriend Frank, but in the end became friends with almost everyone at "The Grove". During her pregnancy Kylie struggled to decide whether or not to put the baby up for adoption, in the end she was forced by her stepfather to put her son up for adoption 2 weeks after giving birth to him mid season.

Jamie Alderson and Depression

Late in her pregnancy Kylie began dating Jamie Alderson, after giving her son Sammy up for adoption Kylie and Jamie split up because he couldn't go on watching her depressed. Following her break-up Kylie's depression deepened as Jamie began dating Zara Horton.

Bullying and Suierside Attempt

During season 12, Kylie's ex-boyfriend Jamie's new girlfriend Zara began bullying her because of her pregnancy and Zara's strong jealousy of her. Later she was persuaded to tell the teachers at her school by a youth leader, Zara was expelled from the school but it only seemed to make the bullying worse. The bullying went on for the rest of the season 12 until it came to a dramatic climax in the season finale when Zara stole Jamie's phone and texted Kylie a message telling her to meet him at the youth club after it closed, she agreed and turned up at the club only to be dragged into the toilets by Zara, she got her revenge for getting her kicked out the school by beating Kylie up and smashing her head of a toilet seat and leaving her for dead. Zara was later arrested for assault as Kylie woke up on the floor of the girls toilets confused and light headed she found a knife in the kitchen and slit her wrists.

Season 14 (2002)

David Shaw

After surviving her [...] attempt in the season premiere, Kylie returned to the youth club. She struggled with the memories of her bullying but new member David Shaw helped her forget AbOUT the past with a new worldwind relationship which lasted the whole season.

Affair with Earl, Pregnancy, Abortion and Exit

During they're relationship Kylie began sleeping with his older brother Earl. The affair led to her second pregnancy which was aborted because Earl told her if she didn't he would tell David about they're relationship, she was left depressed once again. In the season finale Kylie's depression led to her confession to David about her affair, shocked by this he dumped her and got into a violent fight with Earl. Kylie then left Newcastle and returned to Liverpool to live with her father.

Season 16 (2004)

Return and Total Disaster

Kylie returned in season 15 episode 4 after her fathers death, shortly after her return she quickly joined the rock band Total Disaster as the lead singer. During her time in the group they managed to get a recording contract with KKS Records and released a single, the single was a huge flop in the UK yet was a massive success in Germany.

Michael Kindley

Whilst touring with her band Total Disaster Kylie began dating the drummer Michael, the 2 remained together until the end of the season. They got engaged at a celebration party after their bands single went to number 1 in Germany, later in the season the group got a full album record contract but this would mean the band would have to relocate to Germany Kylie turned down the offer to move to Germany and they found a new lead singer and left without her in the season finale leaving Kylie with no friends, no boyfriend and no band.

Season 17 (2005)

Shock Revelation and Homeless

Kylie's only main storyline during this season was her mother and siblings moved back to Liverpool after she finally revealed that the father of the baby she gave up for adoption was her stepfather who raped her when she was only 12, her mother told her that she couldn't look at her anymore and left leaving her own daughter homeless. She stayed in "The Grove" for 6 weeks until she was found by youth leader Brian who took her in until she found a job as a waitress and bought her own flat.

Season 18 (2006) (Final Season)

Zara's Return

Early in the season, Kylie's bully Zara re-entered Kylie's life once again wanting revenge, she started rumours about Kylie saying that she was sleeping with her own sister. In the end Kylie fought back ending up in a catfight with her in the middle of the restaurant that she worked at getting her fired and also getting Zara out of her life for good, she later got her job back.

Jason Slater

During the final season Kylie began dating Jason Slater, the relationship became serious fast but just 4 months into their relationship the two split up when Kylie found out that Jason was a bully in his old school and drove a child to [...] which was exactly what happened to her when she was in high school.

Final Episode

During the final episode of the show Kylie decided to leave Byker when she realized she was to old to hang out at a youth club, she bought a bus ticket and planned to leave for Liverpool after the closing down of the club. In the final 10 minutes of the episode Jason raced to the bus station to stop Kylie from going to Liverpool, but by the time he got here she was gone. He chased her to Liverpool in a stolen car with the police chasing him. He made it to Liverpool and tracked Kylie down and in the final scene reunited with her after escaping from the police.
