Kuen-Do
Kuen-Do (拳道) literally means "the way of the fist." However, in the intended Chinese term, the character "fist" is also synonymous with "style of martial art" and "martial art" itself. The hyphenated term specifically refers to the system founded by Randy Tay, a Singaporean and one of the foremost authorities on the Cho Ga lineage of Wing Chun, a version more popular in South East Asia.
Kuen-Do requires understanding through experience and guidance in a dynamic process, as opposed to the usual transmission of knowledge found in most other systems. Of course, effectiveness in combat is essential, however Tay also believes that martial arts is a lifelong discipline that transcends physical combat. For this reason, Kuen-Do stresses the development of physical efficiency, mindfulness, and insight through challenging training sessions.
Kuen-Do, is based on salient concepts of Wing Chun, while other influences include Kyokushin Karate, Goju-Ryu Karate, Muay Thai (or Thai-style boxing), Hapkido, Aikido, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Daito-ryu aiki-jujutsu, as well as the Theravada school of Buddhism, which stresses critical thinking and personal cultivation.
Today, Kuen-Do is practised in Singapore (where it was founded), Australia, Japan, Canada, and recently in the USA (2003).
More about Randy Tay: I have known Randy Tay since 2004. My first meeting was when a close friend of mine asked me to help bail Randy out of jail. He was under arrest for credit card fraud. I had no idea that I was meeting a world level scum-bag & con-man. Over the next year he proceeded to empty my friends life savings, stealing over $30,000. And ruining her credit. He represented himself as a competitive kick boxer, in point of fact I had occasion to fight him and although I am just an amateur martial artist, he showed no skill at all. He claimed to have a PhD from Cambridge in Economics, I was suspicious because he seemed to only poorly understand many topics related to the field. In pursuit of the facts, I photocopied his PhD and e-mailed it to a friend at Cambridge, it was a laughingly poor forgery. He is wanted for in Singapore for multiple felonies. Far from being famous in his native country he is despised by all who knew him including his family. The biggest favor you can do yourself is to stay away from this guy and the biggest service you can do for the USA is find a way to get him sent back to Singapore to face justice. Perhaps the fact that his status here is based on a fake marriage can be helpful in this event. I happily leave my real name and e-mail address. Please send me any information that you have about this criminal so we can find a way to stop him. jammonit@comcast.net Jack Gindi
