KITECHILD
KITECHILD is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has created the first online network for orphanages and children's homes around the world . Its network provides visibility to childcare organizations by supporting and exposing the needs of orphanages and children’s homes to the online community. Their goal is to increase global awareness by making the endeavors of hundreds of child-caring organizations visible to the world .
Kitechild.org serves as a web based system to allow communication and cooperation among childcare providers throughout the world. Their interactive network provides a place where orphanages and children’s homes can post bulletins, instant message one another, share videos, and blog about their daily activities, current needs, and recent successes . Each orphanage creates a profile where they fill out their basic information. Kitechild aggregates this information so that individuals and donors can use the site as a search engine to find exactly what orphanages need in order to optimize the donation process .
History
In November 2009, Kitechild had its first childcare organization join their online network, with many other organizations quickly following suit. Kitechild now has expanded its partnerships with childcaring organizations to Latin America, Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe . There are currently over 125 childcare organizations using its online network to create a profile and demonstrate their needs .
In 2010 Kitechild partnered with VONS Credit Union in order to create their first “success story” of meeting the needs that an orphanage has listed on their profile. Through this success they were able to meet the needs of Hogar de Amor in Honduras by providing for their most current need of school uniforms .
On December 11, 2010, Kitechild launched its movements at its first annual event in Beverly Hills, California . The launch successfully created a buzz about the organization and helped raise money to be donated to the members of Kitechild.org .
Kitechild is currently a part of the Ralphs Community Contribution Program. .
