KFMD-LP
KFMD-LP is a low-power television station in Redding, California, broadcasting locally in analog on VHF channel 6. Founded September 16, 2003, KFMD-LP is owned by Venture Technologies Group. KFMD-LP is also simulcast on KEFM-LP, also owned by Venture Technologies Group, on channel 6 in Chico, California.
Due to recent video problems with Tele Vida Abundante, both stations currently operate and market themselves as radio stations, using the audio portion of NTSC channel 6 (87.75 MHz) to broadcast audio. Many FM radio receivers can receive the 87.75 MHz frequency on the bottom of the FM dial (as 87.7 FM). The stations currently air Spanish language Christian programming from Radio Vida Abundante.
As both stations are licensed as television stations, KFMD-LP and sister station KEFM-LP are required to operate both the video and audio signals. The video signal is so choppy that it looks like there are station problems.
KFMD-LP has an application to flash-cut its TV signal to channel 42 at 11 kW. By doing so, its purpose as a radio station would be defeated.
