Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Liverpool Riverside
Kegang was born in 1961 in Guangdong, China, the elder son of a local newspaper editor and accountant. He left mainland China in 1991 and came to King's College London where he completed a Ph.D. in Geography. He moved to Liverpool in 1994 to lecture in the University of Liverpool. He is married two sons.
Kegang has been a scientist, lecturer and businessman over three decades before 2010.
He started his career as a geoscientist, lectured in British and Chinese universities and researched geographical & environmental changes in various countries.
Kegang spent the last decade in international business development based in Liverpool Chamber of Commerce where he was Director of International Business Division and ChinaLink. He has advised and undertook projects for commercial firms, government departments, local authorities, business support agencies and international organisations.
Kegang is currently the Chief China Adviser for The British Chambers of Commerce and is the Managing Director of a Liverpool based consultancy firm.
Dr. Wu speaks fluent Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese and Min (Shantou) and is also a qualified court interpreter.
He is the first China mainland born & educated British Chinese to stand for a General Election.
Kegang is passionate AbOUT Liverpool Riverside after living and working in the city for more than 15 years. He was known to be instrumental in setting up the twining arrangement for Liverpool and Shanghai. In managing various business support projects, helping hundreds of local firms to grow through international trade, and involving in community projects.
