Kashaf Walayat
In 1986, Kash (Kashaf) joined the central UK government Department for Education as their first ever employed Youth Trainee Scheme person, since then he has been promoted eight grades to and became one of the youngest ethnic minority deputy divisional managers outside London.
In 1995 he was elected as one of the UK's youngest Asian councillor for the city of Sheffield and headed up the council services for the East End of Sheffield and served on numerous committees and charities.
Worked in various government departments and agencies, and headed up the ICT and Estates for the NHS corporate University and Sector Skills Development Agency.
Runner up to the team responsible for the Northern Ireland Peace Process at the national UK civil service awards for leadership. Awarded the OBE by the Queen for his work within the government and community.
Currently board member of South Yorkshire Police Authority, Head of Service Improvement and Operations at the Department for Children Schools and Families (DCSF), Vice Chair of the DCSF Race Group and chairman of a Housing company. Also a member of Association for Police Authorities on their Race & Diversity and Science and Technology Policy Committees.
