KALYX Technologies
KALYX Technologies, Inc. is an athletic apparel company best known for its introduction of activity-specific, environmentally-friendly sports bras and technical athletic apparel. Founded in Venice Beach, California in 2008 by Kimberly Cayce. The corporate headquarters are in Inglewood, California.
A former NCAA-All-American and All-ACC Team Member at Duke University, KALYX founder Kimberly Cayce competed on tours around the world as a professional golfer for 5 years. Throughout her athletic career, Cayce became increasingly frustrated by the lack of attractive, comfortable and supportive bras in the marketplace.
While pursuing her MBA at UCLA Anderson School of Management, Cayce was awarded the prestigious 2007 Wolfen Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. This fellowship helped Cayce build the foundation for the company that is KALYX today. Cayce spent 3+ years researching breast bio-mechanics, studying the latest innovations in intimate apparel manufacturing, and, working closely with a team of textile developers in order to better understand emerging trends in nanotechnology and environmentally-friendly fabrics. While at UCLA, Cayce worked with a team of experts to develop the KALYX line of activity-specific, patent-pending sports bras and K-Force Eco-Loving Fabric, an ultra-lightweight technical fabric.
On September 13th, 2009 KALYX Technologies was on ABC Television’s reality show Shark Tank (TV series). Kimberly Cayce and the athletes of Team KALYX were featured: Rebecca Cardon (Soccer), Jamie Lanfranco (Snowboard), Laura Schneider (Kickboxing), Victoria William (Basketball), Ashley Anne-Marie (Golf), Cindy Truong (Yoga), Heather Grey (Track and Field), and Therese Fricke (Marathon).
As part of the KALYX Cares campaign a percentage of each sale of the 2010 Team KALYX Calendar goes to support breast cancer research and treatment at the City of Hope National Medical Center.
