Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat
Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat was chief of Army of first unified Nepal. He moved in Kathmandu along with Saha Dynasty moved in Kathmandu considering it as a capital of New Nepal. He was the third son of General Shivaram Singh Basnyat, who was the reliable Bhardar and contributed whole of his life in unification of Nepal. Gen. Shivaram Singh Basnyat died during the war with Bhaktapur in Sanga bhangyang. Abhiman Sing Basnyat was only two and half years old then and was raised by his mother Suprabha Singh Basnyat. King Prithvi Narayan Shah had made available all the required resources to raise well his family in close acquaintance with royal palace. Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat and Sworoop Sing Karki lead the team for massive attack on Saptari Bhuvveneshwor and Kavilas area and registered the victory over them. In command of Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat, upper Dang ford and Chitwan were summed up in the territory of Gorkha in 1777 AD. Stunned with the bravery and excellence of Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat, he was granted the designation of “Kaji”. He also led the force and conquered the separate eastern Terai estates and unified into the Nepal. After the death of King Prithivi Narayan Shah, during the rule of King Pratap Singh Shah, the eastern region on leadership of ex-minister of losing eastern Terai Region, Buddhi karna Rai was cultivating the robbery and brutality in the region to weaken the Gorkha governance in the region. Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat pragmatically channelizes the strategy to conquer the growing evil by launching the Army guerilla to capture the culprits. This increased the goodwill of Kaji Abhiman Singh Basnyat widespread in the region. After he captured and killed 15 member of group including their leader Ripu Mardan Sen and Sikkime Sen, the situation normalized in the region and durable peace was restored. With this successful project and greatly earned goodwill, giving responsibility of Easter region to Swaroop Singh Karki he moved to Kathmandu.
