Juda Goldstein
Juda Goldstein (born December 14, 2006) is an American filmmaker, cinematographer, and visual effects artist. He is best known for his work in youth and regional independent film circuits, particularly for his short films Find My and Fan-Fare, which have been screened at events including the All-American High School Film Festival and the Annapolis Film Festival.
Early life and education
Goldstein was raised in Arnold, Maryland, a community near Annapolis. He attended Broadneck High School, where he began writing and directing student film projects. During his high school tenure, his early shorts received consecutive local technical recognition. Following graduation, he enrolled at the University of Maryland, College Park to study Cinema and Media Studies. While pursuing his degree, he took on an operational media role within the production Department Of Maryland Athletics.
Career
Goldstein's creative output consists primarily of character-driven narrative short films that utilize specialized digital visual effects pipelines. In 2022 and 2023, he directed the micro-budget student shorts The Hunter and The Hunter II, the latter of which earned an invitation to screen at the All-American High School Film Festival (AAHSFF) and won a Technical Merit award at the Broadneck Film Festival circuit.
In late 2023, Goldstein served as a producer and lighting engineer on the short film Fan-Fare (directed by Nathan Winn). The film was named an Official Selection at the 2024 Annapolis Film Festival and won the Emerging Talent Award at the AAHSFF during its screening block at the AMC Empire 25 theater in New York City.
Goldstein wrote, directed, and produced the short thriller Find My in 2024, starring Iz Taylor. Inspired by device tracking applications, the film followed a protagonist pursuing a stolen laptop. The film won the award for "Overall Best Film" in the High School General Category at the 18th Annual Broadneck Film Festival. In his subsequent projects, including Failure to Prepare and Who Knew, Goldstein incorporated advanced three-dimensional compositing workflows using computer graphics programs such as Blender, Unreal Engine, and Nuke.
