Gerald Walford

Gerald A. "Gerry" Walford is a former ice hockey player, and college ice hockey head coach at Ohio State.

Education

Walford graduated from the University of North DAKOTA with a B.A. He earned a masters degree from Ithaca College and a doctorate in sports psychology from the University of Maryland.

Playing career

Walford played college hockey at North Dakota from 1958–61. He was an alternate captain his senior season of 1960–61. He scored a goal in the 1959 NCAA championship game against Michigan State, which North Dakota won in overtime.

Coaching career

Walford coached Ohio State from 1972–75 while a graduate student. He finished his three-season coaching career with a 41–46–4 record.

Post Coaching

Walford is currently a PGA professional in Kentucky. Along with his son, Gerald E., he is the author of many sports psychology and coaching books, including "The Golf Whisperer."
