Juan-Carlos Duran

Juan-Carlos Duran Torres (born November 18, 1965) is also known as J.C. Duran. He was born in Lima, Peru and emigrated to the United States in the 1970s.

Juan-Carlos (JC) Duran is the Chief Executive Officer of the Peyton-Daniel Company, a private U.S. based holding company with equity interests in various worldwide businesses and real estate ventures; and the founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Pepe & Elmer Media, Inc.. a marketing and entertainment company with a focus on the U.S. Hispanic market. As a principal advisor to many corporations looking to target the Hispanic market, Mr. Duran is responsible for advising on issues of diversity, outreach, marketing platforms and media objectives. Some of the companies he has worked with include NBC-Universal, New Line Cinema, HBO, BMG, Telemundo, LATV, Fox, Technology Venture Alliance, and others.

With broad entertainment experience, Mr. Duran’s firm has also been responsible for executing and creating live concert events and in 2006 handled part of the U.S. tour and production for Pepe Aguilar and the Familia Aguilar. Most recently Mr. Duran’s firm entered into a television production deal with Spanish language television network Telemundo and is producing the daily show “Zona 22” and "Descontrol". His firm is currently furthering its television production initiatives to create content for various television networks.

Prior to forming Pepe & Elmer Media, Mr. Duran was President of Element 119, an entertainment and talent management company. There, he helped build the company’s creative direction, its marketing and its strategy for the Hispanic Market. His knowledge of this growing market propelled him to branch out and establish Pepe & Elmer Media in 2003.

Mr. Duran was born in Lima, Peru and raised in both the capital and in the Andes Mountains. He is a member of the Latin Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (LARAS) and the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (NARAS)--both which comprise the Grammy awards. He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (Emmys) and a judge for the ALMA Awards which in 2006 were co-produced by Eva Longoria. Mr. Duran is the founder and Executive Director of The Laboratory, a non-profit organization with a mission to help expand minority involvement in the entertainment and media businesses. He has also served as an advisor to the Consulate of Peru in Los Angeles and is actively involved in helping improve the lives of the native people in the Andes Mountains of South America.
