Jose David

Jose David, born 1941 in Montevideo, Uruguay, is the youngest son of Hungarian immigrants.

In 1971 he graduated from the School of Social Service of Montevideo with the title of social worker. In 1967 he married Dora Shlafrok. During the early 70’s they lived, with their two children Gabriela and Marcelo, in New York in ususfructo of a Fullbright-Hays

Fellowship, where he obtained his Masters in Sociology (1974) at Fordham University.

His professional training in group dynamics has been applied specifically to the prevention of [...] addiction and juvenile crime, especially when he was a social worker at Lincoln Hall in New York (an institution devoted to the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders). Through a grant from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation conducted specialized studies in Mexico. He was a consultant for UNESCO in the area of South America and the Caribbean. Then undertook specialized studies in Mexico and Israel.

He served as a lecturer in Criminology at the Faculty of Social Service Group at the University as well as in private schools in Montevideo. He also completed an artistic training at the Engraving club, also workes in ceramics, tapestry, painting and drawing. He has published several research papers in various professional journals.
