José Vaquedano

José Vaquedano (born July 9, 1981 in La Ceiba, Honduras who currently is a relief pitcher in the Boston Red Sox organization. He is listed as 6' 4", 184 lb, he bats right handed and throws right handed.

Vaquedano was drafted by the Red Sox in the 35th round of the 2002 amateur draft out of Vernon College. He currently is in the bullpen at the AAA affiliate Pawtucket Red Sox.

Biography

José was born on July 9, 1981 in La Ceiba, Honduras. He and his family moved to San Antonio, Texas when he was 11. He speaks fluent English and Spanish. José grew up a Chicago Cubs fan in San Antonio, his favorite players were Sammy Sosa and Pedro Martínez. Jose was drafted by the Red Sox in the 35th round of the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft.

Scouting Reports

Tall and lanky side-arming righty (switched to sidearm in spring 2007). Mid- to high- high 80s fastball with good movement. His high-70s changeup sinks away from lefties. Good slider and curve. Likes to work quickly, and throws a lot of strikes. Good mound presence. Struggles against left-handed hitters.
